Peaches TV Debut

Peaches is still a gem of a bird. Always sweet and never grumpy.

I keep forgetting to add to her information that she is a Ducorps Cockatoo.

On Monday we went to the KATU studios to film her for the Pet of the Week on AM Northwest.
She was very well behaved.
When the front desk phone rang she said "Hello!" - loudly
The building was pretty quiet so she made an impression.

Lots of people stopped by to talk to her. She responded back and was a very good girl.

To see her 15 seconds of fame. Tune in to KATU Channel 2 Thursday at 9 am.

Birdie Blankie

Peaches loves her green sheet that is over her cage. I cover her at night.
If I forget this is what happens:

Do I have to do this all myself?

This is better!

Peaches is just finishing a molt. There are still lots of pin feathers. I could spend hours just helping her with them. She wonders why I stop! Unfortunately I am allergic to all her dust. I have been giving her more showers to help with the dust.

Good Night Peaches!

Peaches starts eating her dinner about 6pm. She plays and squawks and then puts herself in the cage and goes to sleep by 8pm. Here is a picture I took of her sleeping.

This is from the other night. Peaches cage door was open and we were watching tv.
She will come to me on the couch when I say Come here! We will play and cuddle and when she is done she goes back to the cage all on her own!

Peaches First Week

This first week with Peaches has gone by so fast.
Here are some pictures:

This is Peaches checking me out on the couch below and dancing.
Peaches mid-dance move.
Peaches out side waiting for me to get her big cage ready.
Who is that down there on the couch?
Check out my new house!

The Latest News

It has been a whirl wind the last couple of years. First I was a foster mom for the RCEBC. Then I was the Adoption Coordinator.
Now I am a volunteer for the Oregon Humane Society. Parrots for adoption will be found under small animals.
My first foster bird for them is Peaches. Isn't she a pretty girl?

Peaches is looking for her forever home. She will need to find a home with experienced parrot people. Peaches is 15 years old and has only had one home with her mom. Her OHS Animal ID is 75949. The adoption fee for Peaches is $950. She will be adopted with her cage and accessories.
If you are interested please send me the answers to these questions:
  • Please tell me about your parrot experience.
  • What would Peaches diet be at your home?
  • How would she spend her day?
  • How many people live in your home or visit frequently?
  • What monthly budget do you have allotted for her care?
  • Have you ever re-homed a pet? What kind of pet and why?
  • How do you plan to have Peaches taken care of in case you get sick?
  • What will you do if she starts having behavioral issues such as biting and or screaming?
  • Why do you want to adopt Peaches and what kind of home will you give her?
  • List 3 references - People I can call or email that know your pet parrot care and history
  • I would love to see where she will be living. Pictures of the bird room or area would be great! If you are close enough for a home visit that is preferred.
The goal is to find her a new forever home. I just want to make sure and find the right fit!
Feel free to email or comment if you are interested.
